A medical careers day will be held in Dublin next month to highlight the spectrum of career opportunities available to medical graduates in Ireland.
Registration has opened for this year’s annual Medical Careers Day, which will take place on Saturday, 5 October. The event is free to attend and will for the first time be held in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin 4.
A joint initiative of the HSE, the Forum of Irish Postgraduate Medical Training Bodies and Medical Council, the careers day aims to showcase the range of career opportunities available to medical graduates.
For the first time, the event will host a panel discussion involving doctors at all stages of their careers, including interns, SHOs, registrars and consultants. This interactive session will be led by Dr Carol Norton, the National Lead NCHD/National Doctors Training and Planning Fellow for 2019/2020.
Panellists will discuss their individual career journeys and the decisions that have led them to their current path.
Additional time has been scheduled for attendees to network with the exhibitor stands. This is to allow the opportunity to speak with current trainees in different specialties, and for attendees to learn how to become more competitive when applying for these training programmes.
There will also be three interview skills sessions throughout the day, when attendees can receive interview advice to better prepare themselves.
