The American Ireland Fund partnered with CMRF Crumlin (the hospital’s principal fundraising body) to bring the new 5 bed, fully en-suite unit to completion
“We are so grateful to The American Ireland Fund’s Promising Ireland Campaign for both the funding and the “hands-on” role they have played in developing this state-of-the-art Gastro Intestinal Unit at the hospital,” said Mr Joe Quinsey, CEO of CMRF Crumlin.
“It simply could not have happened without this support. We are very excited to open this new facility in the coming weeks. Projects like this one go a long way towards enabling staff at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin to continue delivering superb quality care to patients.”
Ms Rachel Kenna, Director of Nursing at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital also welcomed the news.
“We couldn’t be happier to have this wonderful new GI Unit installed at the hospital,” she said.
“The rooms within the unit are designed to make the time spent by GI patients in the hospital as comfortable as possible, and the unit has been developed with the input of staff, patients and family members who spend so much time in the facility.
“New units like this one have a positive and lasting impact on patients, parents and certainly on hospital staff too. We are thrilled to have a donation make such a powerful and transformational difference to the lives of some of our sickest patients.”
