Health Committee to hear from PA Consulting on Health Service Capacity Review

Chairperson of the Health Committee, Dr Michael Harty TD, said today: “PA Consulting undertook an independent review on behalf of the Department of Health to determine capacity requirements in the health service to the year 2031 and also examines capacity issues in primary care, residential care beds and homecare.

“Tomorrow, the Committee will engage with PA Consulting on their final report, which found that occupancy levels across the acute hospital system in Ireland are far in excess of international norms. Significant reform is needed and committee members will want to discuss the future work required which would take account of the wider implications arising from major reconfigurations of services across hospitals.”
